The Federal Building at 536 S. Clark Street is located in downtown Chicago across from the Chicago Stock Exchange and was constructed at the turn of the century.

DETAILS:

In the abandoned coal hoppers and ash pit existed the original steel columns encased in concrete that supported the west end of the building. These were excavated, inspected and repaired as required. Existing drain piping in ash pit area was replaced and ash pit was filled with cellular flowable foam. Coal hopper columns were again encased in concrete to provide fireproofing and all openings accessing coal hoppers were replaced with concrete. The existing sewage ejector system, some existing drains and basins were removed and replaced.
