DETAILS:

The Lower St Anthony Falls Lock and Dam is located in central Minneapolis and is one of 29 locks on the upper Mississippi River.

Due to the shipping season, which runs from mid-March through November, there was only a three-month, middle-of-the-winter period allowed to make the repairs. The main repairs were at the vertical monolith joints. These were saw-cut and demolished down to sound concrete. Stainless steel anchor bolts were installed and wall pressure washed. Repair areas were formed, tented and preheated. Repairs were done utilizing a fast setting fiber reinforced polymer modified repair material. This was a challenging job as the repair quantities increased substantially without additional time being extended to the contract.
